37 referees from the 2018 batch kicked off their four-year AFC Referee Academy programme with the Introductory Module I at the AFC House on Thursday, November 8.

The aspiring elite referees began their five-day module with back-to-back practical sessions on fitness and technicality, before diving in on theoretical topics such as integrity, psychology and fitness.

Over the next few days, they will be exposed to the more intensive practical sessions as well as being updated on the latest Laws of the Game, with quizzes and presentations to follow.

The referees will also have the opportunity to garner insights and experiences from their respective referee educators.

The 2018 Batch also welcomed eight new Member Associations – Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyz Republic, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Syria – recording a 74.5 percent MA participation.

The Introductory level comprises four modules over a term of one year, and Module II is scheduled to take place in February 2019.
