2018 FIFA World Cup – 3PP: Belgium beat England 2-0 to finish third!

The 2018 FIFA World Cup continued on Saturday, July 14 afternoon with Belgium defeating England 2-0 at the Saint Petersburg Stadium to finish third in the tournament.

Belgium were quick off the blocks and the Red Devils took an early 4th minute lead, when a Courtois clearance was headed on, Lukaku found the space on the left for Chadli and his cross was put in by an onrushing Thomas Meunier.

They could have doubled their lead in the 12th minute, but a de Bruyne attempt was blocked by Pickford as Belgium had a number of good build-ups but rare attempts while England had one real chance when Sterling found Harry Kane buthis miss hit went wide. At the break Belgium were ahead 1-0.

England manager Southgate made changes at the break with Lingard and Rashford coming on for Rose and Sterling, they brought more purpose into the game of the Three Lions but they needed time for their chances through Rashford and Maguire before Belgium were successful with one of their counter attacks in the 82nd minute, when de Bruyne found Eden Hazard and the captain ensured victory.

Belgium won 2-0 against England and achieved their best-ever finish in the history of FIFA World Cup’s.
