2018 FIFA World Cupper Johnny Acosta of Costa Rica joins East Bengal!

Kolkata giants East Bengal Club have announced the signing of Costa Rican centre-back Johnny Acosta Zamora for whopping INR 13,6 mio (1.36 crore) for the 2018/19 season.

The red-and-golds after announcing a new investor in Quess Ltd a few days ago, now they have made the biggest signing of the summer in Indian Football so far in experienced Costa Rican Johnny Acosta, who played for his nation at the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia against Serbia, Brazil and Switzerland.

34 year old Ciudad Quesada-born Johnny Acosta Zamora started his football at local giants Deportivo Saprissa, but left to make his senior debut for Santos de Guápiles and played for them for six seasons, then he moved to LD Alajuelense and there also be spend six years with a loan spell at Mexican side Dorados de Sinaloa.

Here thereafter played for CS Herediano in Costa Rica and then Colombian side Rionegro Águilas before now moving out of the Americans for the first-time in his career.

Johnny Acosta in a statement said, “East Bengal are one of the biggest clubs of India with a very rich heritage. I want to deliver my best for my new club and be part of Indian football.”

“My motto is to help other Indian footballers and guide them properly. I also want to win the trophy for East Bengal,” added Acosta.
