2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup – France draw held at La Seine Musicale!

The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup – France Draw took place at the La Seine Musicale, near Paris on Saturday evening in the presence of stars from the present and past, besides many dignitaries from the football world.

Ex-Manchester United striker Louis Saha and former England Women star Alex Scott conducted the draw, while France’s World Cup-winning manager Didier Deschamps, 2007 Ballon D’Or winner Kaká, Paralympic champion Marie Bochet, former United States international Cindy Parlow Cone, former Ghana star Michael Essien, Japan legend Aya Miyama and former Germany international Steffi Jones acted as the draw assistants of the ceremony presented by CNN’s Amanda Davies and French tv host Denis Brogniart.

The 24 qualified teams were allocated to four seeding pots of six teams each ahead of the draw, in accordance with their position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking.

The draw regulations automatically put tournament hosts France to Position 1 in Group A, which will also feature South Korea, Norway and Nigeria.

Two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Germany are set to take on China, Spain and South Africa in Group B, while Group C will consist of Australia, Italy, Brazil and debutants Jamaica.

Group D has set up a “Battle of Great Britain” between England and Scotland, while Argentina and Japan complete the group.

Canada, Cameroon, New Zealand and Netherlands will clash in Group E, while defending champions USA will face Thailand, Chile and Sweden in Group F.

France will take on South Korea in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup opening match at the Parc des Princes in Paris on June 7, 2019. The final will be held at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon on July 7, 2019.
