2020 CONCACAF League Matchday Update!

As part of CONCACAF’s protocols to resume the 2020 Scotiabank CONCACAF League (SCL), extensive COVID-19 testing is carried out on each club’s players and traveling staff, and all match officials, prior to each match.

Waterhouse FC (JAM) vs Arcahaie FC (HAI)
In the case of the SCL Round of 16 match between Waterhouse FC and Arcahaie FC, all players, traveling staff and match officials have tested negative for COVID-19.

The match will be played as scheduled tonight at 6:00 pm ET.

Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) vs CSD Municipal (HON)
CONCACAF yesterday made the decision to postpone this SCL Round of 16 match by 24 hours to carry out further testing on the CSD Municipal players and staff after six members of their delegation tested positive (four players and two staff). This was a precautionary decision taken with the safety and welfare of all participants in mind.

Upon further testing, a new positive case was established. However, three of the six members of CSD Municipal’s delegation who originally tested positive (two players and one member of staff) have subsequently received two consecutive negative test results. Under SCL regulations, these three individuals are now eligible to participate in tonight’s match.

The individuals who remain with positive tests have been advised of all CONCACAF protocols and laws and regulations imposed by local authorities.

The match will be played tonight at 8:15 pm ET.

CD Olimpia (HON) vs Managua FC (NCA)
In the case of the SCL Round of 16 match between CD Olimpia and Managua FC, all players, traveling staff and match officials have tested negative for COVID-19.

Due to challenging weather conditions in the region, the appointed referees for this match could not travel to Honduras in time to ensure they would comply with all CONCACAF pre-match protocols. As per competition regulations, CONCACAF has replaced them with four local FIFA referees, who have all tested negative for COVID-19.

The match will be played as scheduled tonight at 10:30 pm ET.

Adverse weather conditions in Central America
CONCACAF continues to monitor the adverse weather conditions in some countries in Central America. A further update will be provided if required.
