64th Bordoloi Trophy to be held as an eight team affair in Guwahati!

adidas - FootballThe 64th edition of the Bharat Ratna Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy will be played in the capital of Assam, Guwahati from Sunday, September 18 to Friday, September 30.

A total of eight club teams from India, Bangladesh and Nepal are taking part in this edition of the tournament, with the eight teams split into two groups of four each with the top two reach the semifinals.

In Group A, Shillong Lajong FC have been grouped together with Three Star Club (Nepal), Flamingos FC (Nagaland) and Oil India Limited (Duliajan).

Group B would see East Bengal Club, United Sikkim FC, Bongobi Ogragami Club (Bangladesh) and local side Assam State Electricity Board (Guwahati) in action.

The organisers of the 64th Bordoloi Trophy had numerous issues and problems in organising the competition with Guwahati FC coming forward to support the tournament and the Assam state government providing the Rs 2 million (20 lakhs) for the tournament prize money besides teams opting out of the tournament or the schedule having to be changed to accommodate the participation of Kolkata giants East Bengal Club.
