adidas Football and Electronic Arts (EA) have announced a limited-edition jersey edition for four of the world’s largest football clubs. In addition to the design of the new shirts for FC Bayern, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid, their purpose is extraordinary: The jerseys celebrate premiere not in the Allianz Arena or Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, but in the game FIFA 19 EA SPORTS. Already last winter, adidas Football and EA SPORTS had presented jerseys that did not consist of fabric but digital pixels: these jerseys were all in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) style on consoles like the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One to see the PC and the Nintendo Switch.
In the second edition, the boundaries between the computer simulation and the jersey design of the professional clubs are even more blurred: for the first time, jerseys will also be available in a limited edition at adidas.com/Football, in the adidas stores and selected club stores as physical products to be available. In parallel, players can virtually earn the jerseys in the FUT mode and during various weekly tasks of FIFA 19. However, the pros of the four participating clubs will not wear the jerseys of the second edition.
The eye-catching design of the FC Bayern EA Sports jersey celebrates the stars of the team and the club, also known as the “Star of the South”: The star-studded graphics are reminiscent of the anthem that reverberates through the Allianz Arena on match days. Especially prominent: the club crest, which is placed in the middle of the shirt.
The Juventus EA Sports jersey comes with colorful iridescence: Where traditionally black and white stripes complement each other, the limited edition shirt shines in rainbow colors – emblematic of “the old lady”, who always knows how to surprise.
The Manchester United EA Sports jersey also fits into the design language for the digital age: the kit is visibly inspired by fashion design and urban streetwear trends in northwestern England. The leopard print is a symbol of the progressive and innovative team from the Premier League.
The current UEFA Champions League holders, Real Madrid, complete the extraordinary jersey quartet: the design recalls the extraordinary skills of the “Galactic” and the players who have worn the jersey in the past. The dark blue night sky is broken by shining stars over Spain’s capital.
All limited-edition jerseys with Electronic Arts are made of soft fabric that dissipates moisture both on-court and during hot fights on the console. In total there will be around 7,000 shirts to buy. How gamers can earn the jerseys at FIFA 19, reveals the website of EA SPORTS.
