AFC Cup qualifiers: Mohun Bagan face Club Valencia (Maldives) in their quest for group stage!

Indian Federation Cup champions Mohun Bagan host Maldivian FA Cup Club Valencia in their AFC Cup – South Asia qualifiers return-leg at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The first leg of the tie had ended in a one-all draw, which gives the advantage to the Mariners as they look to get into the 2017 AFC Cup group stage.

Mohun Bagan head coach Sanjoy Sen confirmed that his Scottish striker Darryl Duffy, who scored the solitary goal in the first leg, would be rested in tomorrow’s game along with midfielder Pranoy Halder.

“Duffy and Pranoy won’t play tomorrow, but everyone else is fit and rearing to give it a shot tomorrow. We’re hoping for the best and there’s no reason to give it a second thought on that,” Sanjoy Sen said.

Club Valencia coach Ahmed Mujuthaba isn’t ready to spare any space for the hosts and he thinks his team is equally good to be placed in the AFC Cup group stage.

“I’m proud of my boys and we’re concentrating on our tactics. Mohun Bagan are definitely good but we’re on the same page now. We’ll leave nothing behind tomorrow to go one step above.”

Meanwhile young Azharuddin Mullick sounded pretty confident ahead of tomorrow’s tie and said, “We are ready for tomorrow’s game and once given a chance tomorrow, I’ll surely make it count.”
