AFC MoU strengthens cooperation between Asia and Germany (DFB)!

Asian football’s strong global relations were further strengthened on Tuesday as the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) renewed its partnership with the Deutscher Fussball Bund (DFB) at a ceremony in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur earlier today.

Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the president of the AFC, and German Football Association president Reinhardt Grindel renewed their commitment to sharing expertise under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the organisations.

The renewed partnership agreement was made for a further four years in a signing ceremony on Tuesday, with the first MoU having been agreed in February 2013.

AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said, “We are grateful for this significant contribution the DFB is making to develop our game – both on and off the field. This MoU is an important building block for us to reach our objectives under the AFC Vision and Mission.”

“We are all united in our commitment to enhance the game globally. Cooperation and partnerships between our Member Associations are vital, and this MoU extends that approach beyond the borders of Asia.”

DFB president Reinhard Grindel said, “The DFB is happy to work together with the AFC for the benefit of football in both Asia and Europe. Some key areas for cooperation are coach education and the fight against match-fixing and we are delighted the AFC has placed its trust in us to develop the game across Asia.”

The MoU includes technical development, integrity, good governance and Member Association development in Asia through the knowledge and network of the German FA (DFB).
