AIFF condoles Doraisami Nataraj’s death!

The All India Football Federation has condoled the death of former India international footballer Doraisami Nataraj. He was 78.

Doraisami who played as a midfielder was part of India’s 1970 Asian Games bronze-medal winning squad in Bangkok. He made his debut for India in the Merdeka Cup in Kuala Lumpur against Farmosa on July 30, 1970, and represented India in 28 matches, scoring 3 goals in the process.

He was also a part of India’s bronze-medal winning squad in the Merdeka Cup in 1970, and a member of the triumphant Indian squad where India finished joint winners against South Vietnam in the Pesta Sukan Cup in Singapore in 1971.

AIFF president Praful Patel in his message said, “It is sad to hear that Mr. Doraisami Nataraj is no more. His contribution to Indian Football will never be forgotten. I share the grief.”

AIFF general secretary Kushal Das said, “Mr. Doraisami Nataraj will be alive in his achievements. He has been the inspiration of so many Footballers. May He Rest in Peace.”

At the domestic level, he represented Mysore from 1967 to 1973, and won the Santosh Trophy twice in 1967, and 1968.

At the club level he played for HAL SC, BEML, and Mohammedan Sporting Club.
