AIFF Elite Academy U-19 beat Dinthar FC in their final Independence Day Cup group match!

Edmund’s brace handed the AIFF Elite Academy U-19s a 2-1 victory in their final match of the Independence Day Cup 2017 tournament at the Lammual Ground in Aizawl today, August 7.

The AIFF Elite Academy U-19 boys went ahead in the fourth minute when Edmund tapped it home from a well-executed pass by Suraj. The AIFF Elite Academy U-19s went on pressing hard to double the lead but Dinthar FC contained them well until the half-time.

After the changeover, coach Floyd Pinto introduced Moya having withdrawn Princeton in the 63rd minute. Within three minutes, Edmund cut through from the left side of the box and blasted the back of the net to double the lead.

Dinthar FC came back strongly and halved the gap eleven minutes to the final whistle through Jackson Ochuko but the AIFF Elite Academy U-19 boys could manage to keep the scoreline unchanged until the final whistle to leave the pitch with all three points.

AIFF Elite Academy U-19 boys end their campaign with one win and three draws on six points in the tournament.
