AIFF’s Second Division League hit by sudden closure of Pride Sports from Madhya Pradesh!

Despite all the criticism that the AIFF often receives for their management of Indian football, it has been successful in recent years to spread the I-League and Second Division League across India.

But not always does that spreading of the leagues work as the sad example of Pride Sports from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh shows.

Before their final Second Division League – Preliminary Round match Group C against Fateh Hyderabad AFC on Friday, February 24 the club pulled out of the league, but not only that the club defacto shut down its operations and has ceased to exist.

Pride Sports had lost all their matches in the preliminary group stage, which can happen to a new club but what was shocking and not understandable were the conditions that their foreign coach Paulo Pedro of Spain and the players were put through.

Not only was most of their salaries due to a lack of funds, but basic amenities, food, proper training facilities, travel and all that is attached to a team playing in a league was not provided at Pride Sports.

This only came to light when the club coach Paulo Pedro send a letter to the AIFF to inform them about the conditions at the clubs

Now the club owner of Pride Sports Management Pvt. Ltd. is said to be absconding and the clubs journey has come to a premature end.
