Former Indian Super League champions ATK hae announced the signing of Spanish attacking midfielder Javi Hernandez for the 2019/20 season.
30 year old Salamanca-born Francisco Javier “Javi” Hernández González started to play at youth level for CDF Pizarrales and UD Salamanca before signing for the Real Madrid Academy.
Javi Hernandez when moved to the Real Madrid ‘B’ team but couldn’t move-up to the senior team and in the end spend time on loan for Halmstad BK in Sweden before signing for home town side UD Salamanca. Thereafter he played for CD Ourense, Burgos CF.
Javo then moved around Europe, first to Romania in 2015 to play for Poli Timisoara, then Górnik Leczna in Poland, Gabala FK in Azerbaijan, and KS Cracovia in Poland.
On joining ATK, Javi Hernandez said, “ATK is a two-time champion, my goal is to make sure the Cup returns to us again. I will do my best to make the team win and looking forward have a good season with the squad.”
Meanwhile ATK head coach Antonio Habas said in a statement, “I am delighted with the signing of Javi Hernández. He adds balance and versatility to the team. He is experienced and has played in different conditions, which will be a big advantage for ATK.”
