Indian football legend and long-time India captain Baichung Bhutia in a social media interaction mentioned that he would consider running for the AIFF top post as president.
While answering questions on Facebook, Baichung said, “That is definitely something to be considered in future.”
“At the moment I am focussing on grassroot football with Baichung Bhutia Football School and United Sikkim club and also at district level (in Sikkim). In future, I will definitely consider it (the AIFF president’s post).”
With current AIFF president Praful Patel’s second-term ending in December 2020 and him being uneligible for a third-term under the Indian Sports Code, it looks too early for Baichung Bhutia to try and get elected for the AIFF top job this year.
But as Baichung said, it might be something for him to consider in the future.
