Bayer 04 Leverkusen are keeping faith with head coach Peter Bosz and his fellow coaches. The German Bundesliga club and the Dutchman have agreed a contract extension until June 30, 2022. Bosz took over as head coach on January 1, 2019 and he led Bayer 04 from ninth place to a UEFA Champions League spot in the second half of the last season.
“We really value the day-to-day work of Peter Bosz at Bayer 04. His aspirations are the same as ours, namely playing attractive and, above all, successful football,” said Fernando Carro, the Bayer 04 CEO. “We have ambitious targets and are convinced we can achieve them with Peter Bosz leading our coaching staff.”
For Rudi Völler, Peter Bosz is “a coach whose thumb print is evident in every training session and every game. He has the crucial ability to continually develop a team,” said the sporting managing director. “Peter’s approach to the game fits in perfectly with us as Bayer 04 have played aggressive and high tempo football with joy for many years. Both sides are happy that our partnership will continue after the end of this season. This mutual desire was evident early on. Now was the right time to make it happen.”
Given the contract extension, Peter Bosz emphasised “the great joy this keen, ambitious and very loyal team has given us over the past year. The lads have never eased up in difficult times and also believed in our mutually developed approach to football,” said the 56-year-old. “Equally, we believe in this team and this club. There are great possibilities here under the Bayer Cross! We’re working hard every day to create the conditions to win titles and look forward to continuing to make progress with Bayer 04!”
Following the agreement with Peter Bosz, the contracts with assistant coach Hendrie Krüzen and fitness coach Terry Peters were also extended to 2022. Both joined Bayer 04 in January 2019 along with the head coach.
