Stefan Mennerich, Director of Media, Digital and Communications at FC Bayern München AG, will also take over the chairmanship of FCB Digital & Media Lab GmbH in the future. He sayid, “With the FCB Digital & Media Lab we want to further expand our enormous media coverage. As a result, we can also support our internationalization and generate additional revenues in the areas of media, merchandising and sponsoring. In addition, we will also offer our infrastructure and our know-how as a service to third parties on the market.” Mennerich emphasizes, “The basis of our work is always the content that we produce and offer with our teams worldwide. In this way, we can bring our team, our tradition and our brand to life around the world, inspire fans of FC Bayern and win new ones.”

The FCB Digital & Media Lab will already be active at the start of the 2018/19 season, with Michael Fichtner as second director, in addition to his position as IT department manager of FC Bayern München AG. The management, editing and production will be based at the training grounds of FC Bayern on Säbener Straße, where new buildings are currently being built. The IT and technology teams are based at the FC Bayern Campus in Munich-Fröttmaning.

The basis of the FCB Digital & Media Lab GmbH is the project “FC Bayern Digital 4.0”, which was launched in autumn 2016. Here, FC Bayern has commissioned its own data center in cooperation with its main sponsor Deutsche Telekom and its own software and IT infrastructure in cooperation with its partner SAP. In addition, FC Bayern has reorganized its entire front-end infrastructure from the website via the mobile apps to the online shop as part of this project. Since then, FC Bayern has not been a third-party licensee in the data center area or the front-end area, but has been the owner of its infrastructure, which it continues to develop.

In the FCB Digital & Media Lab, among others, the editorial departments (Social Media, Website, TV, Print), Production, Digital Marketing and CRM, Digital Platforms and Digital Innovations, IT and Technology as well as the operation of the broadcaster “FC Bayern.tv Live “Bundled.
