Bayern Munich win 6-2 at Bayer Leverkusen to enter German Cup (DFB-Pokal) final!

German giants FC Bayern Munich hammered Bundesliga rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen 6-2 in the first semifinal of the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) on Tuesday, April 17 night. Record DFB-Pokal winners FC Bayern have reached the cup final for the 22nd time in the club’s history.

FCB star striker Robert Lewandowski opened the scoresheet for the vistors with two early goals in the first nine minutes of the game.

Lars Bender reduced the margin for Leverkusen in the 16th minute to kick-off an interesting first half. FC Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich saved the Bavarians from conceeding an equalisier and secured his side a 2-1 lead at the breather.

A Thomas Müller hattrick (52′,64′,78′) and Thiago Alcântara (60′) sealed FC Bayern’s empathic win in front of a sellout 30,210 fans at the BayArena, while Leverkusen’s Jamaican youngsters Leon Bailey (72′) scored another consolation goal for the home side.

FC Bayern will face the winner of tonights semifinal match FC Schalke 04 vs Eintracht Frankfurt in the grand finale at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on Saturday, May 19.
