Bengaluru FC request AIFF to postpone Federation Cup final if they qualify!

Former I-League and Federation Cup champions Bengaluru FC in a letter from their CEO Parth Jindal to the AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das has requested the national federation to consider to reschedule the final of the ongoing 38th Federation Cup, if BFC reach the final.

The request has been made as Bengaluru FC play their fourth match within week in tomorrow’s semifinal against Aizawl FC in Cuttack with a crucial AFC Cup against India rivals against Mohun Bagan on Wednesday, May 17 in Kolkata and if Bengaluru FC or Mohun Bagan reach the final, then it would be rescheduled from May 18 to May 21 to allow the two teams enough time.

But Bengaluru FC with five matches in 10 days have requested the AIFF to reschedule the final to Wednesday, May 24 if Bengaluru FC make it to the final.

One of the casualties of too much football in too short span of time was India captain Sunil Chhetri in the last Bengaluru FC match against Mohun Bagan in which Sunil picked up an injury.

Parth Jindal in his letter amongst other things wrote, “These conditions are in no way ideal to play quality football and the whole purpose of advertising Indian football is defeated.”

It will be interesting to see if the AIFF agree to the proposal.
