Bengaluru FC Soccer Schools, the grassroots training program of Bengaluru FC, announced a partnership with Sporthood, Bengaluru’s largest network of neighbourhood sports centres, the club and company announced on Tuesday. The association marks a major step towards delivering world-class football coaching to kids in every neighbourhood of the city.
“BFC Soccer Schools is committed towards improving grassroots football by encouraging kids between five and 16 years of age to pick up the sport. This partnership combines the excellent grassroots operating expertise of Sporthood, who have demonstrated it over the past four years, with the technical know-how of BFC Soccer Schools to push the envelope when it comes to kids football coaching in the country,” said Srinivas Murthy, Head of Operations at Bengaluru FC.
Sporthood provides expert coaching in 30+ centres across the city in sports venues, schools and apartments, with the most talented children provided a clear pathway and guidance for turning professional. Now, this alliance ensures every kid can access the best coaching along with cutting-edge technology and methods to progress quicker and better than at any other academy in the city.
This partnership will benefit over a thousand kids who are already training and aims to provide football coaching to over two-thousand kids in over 50 centres by the end of the year 2019. Further to this, children will be constantly be scouted and inducted into the fully funded BFC academy. Sporthood’s technological backend and mobile-app based tracking and talent identification system will be implemented across the board to ensure that budding footballers receive the right level of training from a very young age.
Sporthood’s co-founder, Rahul Antony Thomas, elaborated on his company’s vision for the same. “We plan to expand to 50 centres by the end of the year, making football more accessible to the people. Further, scholarships will be provided to 1000 kids in the next three years as our vision is to take Sporthood to the nation’s top 10 cities in the next five years,” Rahul added.
