Bold is the Name of Liverpool FC’s Away Game by Nike!

Nike and Liverpool Football Club launched their partnership on August 1. The new home kit acknowledges the club’s past. Liverpool FC’s 2020-21 away kit introduces a visionary look that is a visual representation of club and city.

“We have very distinct design filters that are fully demonstrated in the collection we’ve created for Liverpool FC,” says Scott Munson, VP, Nike Football Apparel. “We set out to create a collection that celebrates the rich culture of the city of Liverpool and the club. The away kit allowed us to be bolder and more expressive in how we brought some of these cultural references to life, and we’ve landed on a look and aesthetic that really reflects that.”

Having introduced teal through subtle design references in the home jersey, the colour explodes into a bold print on the 2020-21 away jersey — heavily influenced by the Liver Bird (the beacon of the city). The kit is also emphasised by the Shankly gates, which are brought to life through the swirling acanthus leaves that embellish the legendary You’ll Never Walk Alone motif.

“I’m a massive fan of the new away kit,” says Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson. “I really love the design and how it has been influenced by the city and specific aspects of the club. I can’t wait to get back out there and play in it next season.”

On the nape of the neck, and in memoriam of the 96 children, women and men who lost their lives more than three decades ago at Hillsborough in the worst disaster in British sporting history, a 96 emblem is encased by eternal flames.

The shorts are teal and have a black stripe down the side and the socks carry through the aesthetic of the jersey.
