BRICS U-17 Football Cup: Brazil beat South Africa 3-0!

brazil-u17-south-africa-u17Table toppers Brazil extended their undefeated streak to three matches and established a three point difference between them and second placed Russia, as the Samba boys defeated South Africa 3-0 in the ongoing BRICS U-17 Football Tournament at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, Goa today (October 11, 2016).

Carlus Amadeu’s boys got off to a flying start and even though the rain gods opened heavy showers on the field, the Brazilian squad jotted down an array of beautiful passing movements to blank their opponents, but a resilient African Team proved no pushovers as they created chances of their own.

Rodrigo Nestor’s 8th minute goal gave the Brazilian Team a breathing space right from the start, but the South African Team in a spirited performance tried to test the Brazilian defence as the game progressed.

Although Brazil went into the half-way point lead by a solitary goal to nil, Molefi Ntseki’s boys turned on the style in the second half and almost gave Brazil a run for their money.

In the 62nd minute, Mavuso penetrated the Brazilian defence and had it not been for the acrobatics of the Brazilian custodian, the ‘Amajimbos’ would have had their equaliser.

Brazil doubled their lead in the 74th minute through Leonardo Franco and Vinicius Oliviera added another in the 82nd minute to seal the result for Carlus Amadeu’s boys as the full-time scoreline read 3-0 in Brazil’s favour.

With this win, Brazil secure their place in the Final of the BRICS U-17 Tournament on October 15, 2016 wherein the Samba boys will clash swords against the second placed Team in the group.
