Bundesliga side Schalke 04 agree to sign FC Sevilla captain Coke!

Schalke 04German Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 have confirmed an agreement with FC Sevilla regarding the transfer of the clubs right back and captain Coke.

The skipper of last season’s UEFA Europa League winners passed his medical on Sunday, July 31 at Schalke 04. On Monday, August 31, Coke will return to Spain to settle final formalities before joining the royal blues squad at their pre-season training camp in Mittersill, Austria.

Twenty-nine-year-old Madrid-born Coke, whose full name is Jorge Andújar Moreno, joined FC Sevilla in 2011 and captained the side in the 2015/16 season. He is also a three-time UEFA Europa League winner, scoring twice in Sevilla’s 3-1 victory over English Premier League side Liverpool FC in the 2016 final back at Basel in May 2016.

Coke is a surprise, but logical signing for Schalke for about 4 million Euros, who solves the issues in the right back position and for Coke it is a move away from Spain, where we has only played either for home town club Rayo Vallecano or FC Sevilla.

Coke’s arrival in the Ruhr valley (Ruhrgebiet) takes Schalke 04’s number of big-name summer signings to three, following teenage Switzerland international Breel Embolo’s move from FC Basel 1893 and Brazilian Naldo’s free transfer from VfL Wolfsburg.

But Director of Sports Christian Heidel is already working on his next transfer target, which is set to be 22 year old left back Abdul Rahman Baba on loan from English Premier League side Chelsea FC.
