Eight-time defending champions East Bengal Club scored a convincing 3-0 win over Pathachakra FC in the Calcutta Football League – Premier Division ‘A’ at the East Bengal ground on Tuesday evening.
The red and gold missed midfielder Lalrindika Ralte, which meant seasoned Syrian Mahmoud Al Amna started to add firepower after their goalless draw against Calcutta Custom.
East Bengal went ahead in the 15th minute when Joby Justin headed in a Lalramchullova cross. The red and gold continued to control the match but had to wait for a Monotosh Chakladar handball to earn a penalty, which was put in by Laldanmawia Ralte in the 42nd minute. At the break, East Bengal led 2-0.
In the second session, East Bengal continued to have more of the ball and match but only added another goal in the 77th minute when Joby Justin scored his second of the match off a Laldanmawia Ralte pass.
In the end, East Bengal returned to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Pathachakra FC.
