Champions Minerva start Hero Junior League with 3-0 won over United Punjab FA!

Minerva Punjab FC started their campaign with a solid 3-0 victory against United Punjab Football Academy in their Punjab Zone’s Hero Junior League opener.

United Punjab FA started the proceeding but couldn’t keep hold of the ball for a long time. Minerva Punjab FC started winning the midfield battle and pressed high to keep hold of the ball in United Punjab FA’s half.

Both teams were pretty decent in the first half. Minerva Punjab FC’s Aphaoba Singh got booked for a harsh tackle on an opponent player. Himanshu Jangra broke the deadlock with a neat finish in the added time of first half.

Minerva Punjab FC kicked off the second half and got a quick goal from Paogoumang Singson’s brilliant header which was assisted by Tangva Ragui in the 47th minute. Minerva Punjab FC dominated most of the second half with constantly winning the ball and dominating the play in opponent’s half. Minerva Punjab FC created few good opportunities in last quarter of the game but the opponent’s goal keeper put in a good shift to save United Punjab FA.

United Punjab FA were down to ten men courtesy of a second yellow to SM Sakir in 79th minute.

Minerva Punjab FC’s substitute Sunny Dahiya scored the last goal of the match thanks to Tangva Ragui’s brilliant assist in the 94th minute to give Minerva Punjab FC a 3-0 win.

Minerva Punjab FC are placed with United Punjab Football Academy, Youth FC and RoundGlass Football in their Punjab Zone qualifier. They will next face Youth FC in their home turf on April 14.
