David Villa joins Andres Iniesta & Lukas Podolski at Vissel Kobe!

Former Spain striker David Villa has announced that he will join Japan’s J-League club Vissel Kobe in 2019 after ending his stint with Major League Soccer side New York City FC.

At Vissel Kobe, David Villa joins former FC Barcelona team-mate Andres Iniesta and former Germany striker Lukas Podolski to form a formidable attacking formation.

David Villa in his career played for Sporting Gijon, Real Zaragoza, FC Valencia, FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid before moving to the MLS by becoming the first player to be signed by expansion franchise New York City FC and there the 36-year-old scored an impressive 80 goals in 124 games.

Now he moves from the United States to Japan to an ambitious side in Vissel Kobe, who want to be the best side in Japan and Asia.

David Villa in a message said, “The moment has come. It’s decided. I have a new destination. A great challenge awaits. Asia. New trips. New country. New culture. New team-mates. Hello Japan. Hello Vissel Kobe.”
