Draw carried out for inaugural 2018 Super Cup!

The draw for the inaugural edition of the 2018 Super Cup was carried out at AIFF Football House in Dwarka, New Delhi earlier on Monday.

As per the draw mechanism, Pot 1 had the ISL Top Four in Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, FC Goa, and FC Pune City; Pot 2 the I-League top four in Minerva Punjab FC, NEROCA FC, Mohun Bagan AC, and East Bengal Club; Pot 3 ISL sides Jamshedpur FC and Kerala Blasters FC alongwith Qualifier No. 1 and Qualifier No. 3; while Pot 4 at I-League sides Aizawl FC and Shillong Lajong FC alongside Qualifier No. 2 and Qualifier No. 4.

The Super Cup – Round of 16 opening match would see former ISL champions Chennaiyin FC taking on former I-League champions Aizawl FC, who due to their AFC Cup commitments have to play on the opening day of the tournament on March 31, while ISL-4 finalists Bengaluru FC will play the winner of the qualifier of NorthEast United FC vs Gokulam Kerala FC on the next day, April 1 due to the Bengaluru FC vs Aizawl FC match in the AFC Cup.

The further schedule of the draw depends on the fact if Aizawl FC are able to beat Chennaiyin FC or not, if they do then the schedule will be adjusted accordingly. The final of the tournament has been scheduled for April 22 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
