East Bengal part ways with their head coach Khalid Jamil!

At a press conference this afternoon, Kolkata giants East Bengal Club announced that they have terminated the two year contract with their head coach Khalid Jamil after only one season due to lack of success and differences between the coach and the club management.

The new 2018/19 season would see Subhas Bhowmick continue to be the club’s Technical Director and former club assistant coach Ranjan Choudhuri as coach for the upcoming Calcutta Football League, while the club would take a decision later on if to appoint a more high profile coach for the 2018/19 I-League.

Khalid Jamil, who came to Kolkata as the I-League winning coach of surprise champions Aizawl FC, did win the Calcutta Football League but his style of playing and management of the team wasn’t to the liking of the club officials. Further he could not win any derby against archrivals Mohun Bagan, which also is a factor in Kolkata.

“Miserable performance by Khalid Jamil. We have already sent a letter to him that we cannot continue with him at the present moment,” club secretary Kalyan Majumder told reporters at the press conference in Kolkata.
