East Bengal sign Nigerian striker Somide Adelaja as third foreigner for CFL!

Kingfisher East BengalKolkata giants East Bengal Club have decided to sign Nigerian striker Oluwaunmi Somide Adelaja as their third foreigner for the upcoming Calcutta Football League – Premier Division ‘A’ 2016 which starts for the red and gold next week.

Somide Adelaja had been practicing with East Bengal for a week in pre-season, has played a part in three friendly matches and was now signed as head coach Trevor Morgan did not want to go into the CFL without a foreign striker though having already signed defender Angus Calum and attacking midfielder Do Dong Hyun.

East Bengal’s target was Haiti striker Wedson Anselme, but he remains with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi of Bangladesh as the club didn’t release him to move across the border to Kolkata.

Now Somide Adelaja has a chance to prove himself in the CFL and if found good, he could be retained for the I-League, which he hasn’t played so far though having been a regular in the Second Division with United Sikkim FC, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Guwahati FC besides playing for some smaller Kolkata club sides in the Calcutta Football League in seasons gone by.
