Eintracht Frankfurt & Fredi Bobic to part ways at the end of the season!

Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG and board member for sport Fredi Bobic have agreed to an early termination of his contract, which was due to run until June 30, 2023. This will be effective from May 31, 2021.

Philip Holzer, the chairman of the Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG supervisory board, thanked Fredi Bobic for his excellent service during his five years as board member for sport. “Fredi Bobic has played a big part in Eintracht’s recent sporting and financial success,” Holzer said on behalf of his colleagues on the supervisory board. “His smart and successful personnel decisions have led to an improvement in the first team and he has done a perfect job. After in-depth discussions over recent days, Fredi has assured me that he will show total commitment to Eintracht until his departure at the end of May, in order to achieve the best possible sporting outcome for the 2020/21 season. We wish him all the best for his future career.”

“I look back on five wonderful years at Eintracht Frankfurt,” said Bobic following the conclusion of the talks with Holzer. “The successes we have had during this time fill me with pride. We have changed and achieved a lot. The Eintracht family has grown massively in five years. My particular thanks go to my board colleagues and to all the sporting staff. I would like to single out the two coaches, Niko Kovac and Adi Hütter. I have always been given full backing by the supervisory board, particularly from current honorary chairman Wolfgang Steubing and his successor as supervisory board chairman, Philip Holzer, and I would like to thank them for that. We have always worked together in a very professional way.”

Holzer also shed some light on the procedure for selecting Bobic’s successor, saying, “Due to the fact that an agreement was to be expected in the course of our talks over Fredi’s wish for an early contract termination, we have already been quietly working on the search for a successor and scouring the market. We can now hold concrete talks with potential candidates to succeed him, without any time pressure to make a decision. The club is currently very well positioned in all areas and, together with the AG executive board, the supervisory board will do everything in its power to maintain the successful sporting and financial course of recent years.”
