Eintracht Frankfurt’s digital subsidiary impresses in innovation competition and has successfully passed a scientific selection process.
Award-winning innovation: EintrachtTech GmbH has received the TOP 100 seal 2021. This award honours particularly innovative medium-sized companies – doing so now for the 28th time. The subsidiary of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG had previously demonstrated its innovative prowess in a scientific selection process.
On behalf of compamedia, the organiser of the TOP 100 innovation competition, innovation researcher Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke and his team examined EintrachtTech’s innovative capabilities. The researchers used around 120 test criteria from five categories as a baseline: senior management that fosters innovation, innovation climate, innovative processes and organisation, external orientation/open innovation and innovation success.
Unique holistic approach
Since October 1, 2020, the club has bundled all external digital initiatives within its wholly owned subsidiary EintrachtTech GmbH. The first step towards digital independence is the introduction of a self-developed platform that provides fans, members and users with central, secure access to all digital services related to their club. This includes a new ticketing and shop system as well as the integration of the membership system and the Football School.
Furthermore, EintrachtTech will introduce an open, mobile payment system in cooperation with Deutsche Bank and Mastercard, which will be integrated into the mainaqila app that was released on Monday. In general, the digital strategy pursues numerous medium and long-term projects with strong regional and international partners and their services. Such a holistic approach is unique in the Bundesliga.
In addition, EintrachtTech GmbH is responsible for the digitalisation of the Deutsche Bank Park and the development of the “Arena of IoT” digital centre. In this digital centre, digital industry models from the sectors of smart building, facility management, energy management, logistics and mobility are developed together with partners from industry and research for application in the market.
