FC Goa captain Mandar Rao Dessai announces his departure!

Indian Super League franchise FC Goa will have to do without their captain Mandar Rao Dessai, who announced on social media his departure from the Gaurs after six seasons with them.

28 year old Mapusa-born Mandar Rao Dattarao Dessai came through the Dempo SC youth system and made his senior debut for the Goan giants. Mandar spend many years with Dempo SC and has been a part of FC Goa for the last six seasons, early on ‘on loan’ and then on a three year contract with time on loan in-between at Bengaluru FC in their last 2016/17 I-League campaign.

Mandar Rao Dessai, who started off as an attacking winger on the left in recent years has dropped back into the left-back postion both for club and country.

Mandar Rao Dessai wrote on Instagram, “Thanks to all the football fans who’ve supported me throughout and showered me with so much love, always. It means the world to me, and I hope it will continue as I move on, with the fondest memories and lots of gratitude in my heart. Thank you @fcgoaofficial for the wonderful times and memories over the last six years.”

There has been no announcement yet on which club Mandar Rao Dessai will be joining though there are rumours that he could be joining ISL rivals Mumbai City FC like his former head coach Sergio Lobera and other FC Goa players.
