FC Goa coach Zico calls for less foreigners, more Indians in ISL match Starting XIs!

FC Goa - Jaydev Mody - ZicoBrazilian legend Zico is one of few coaches, who have returned to India for the third season of the Indian Super League to once more coach FC Goa.

And over these three ISL seasons, Zico has voiced his concerns about Indian football and its development as someone who through the ISL is a part of it.

In the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Atletico de Kolkata and FC Goa match, Zico once more voiced his concerns about too many foreigners starting in the playing XI, the development of the national team and a longer ISL.

Zico started off by saying, “There are more foreigners than Indians which is not helpful. There hasn’t been a lot of improvement in these three years. Indian players need to be more in the starting XI.”

“See the national team’s performance in these years. There hasn’t been much improvement. Overall there is still a long way to go. We do have good talents coming from ISL but I feel Indian players need to play in key positions. Now striker, midfielder places are occupied by foreign players,” Zico added.

And when asked how to change it, one of the suggestions was, “A longer league will certainly be better!”
