FC Goa Juniors came from behind to thump Calangute Association 5-2 in the GFA organised Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium in Mapusa.
Kapil Hoble scored a brace for the Young Gaurs while Imran Khan, Meldon D’Silva ad Aaren D’Silva were the other goalscorers for the table toppers. Akash Sanadi and Meldon D’Silva own goal helped Calangute Association score two.
FC Goa started the match on commanding note and didn’t take long before taking the lead in the 17th minute when Nestor Dias played a through pass from the centre, which cracked open the rival defence, Imran on receiving the pass, covered some distance before slamming home.
After dominating the early minutes, FC Goa suddenly found themselves on the back foot when they conceded two goals in two minutes just before the breather. First Akash scored before Meldon D’Silva guiding the ball into his own nets. The FC Goa defence were caught off guards in the first half injury time that saw them 1-2 down at the break.
Changing ends, FC Goa attacked from the word go and soon levelled terms in the 46th minute when Kapil Hoble headed in Liston’s cross from the left flank.
Once on level terms, FC Goa commanded the play and took the lead in the 71st minute when Princeton played a perfect cross to Meldon, who headed past the rival keeper.
Minutes later, Kapil completed his brace with a simple tap after being set up Aaron and the later completed the rout to make it 5-0.
