FC Goa score 5-1 win over NorthEast United FC!

FC Goa returned to winning ways in style with a 5-1 home win over NorthEast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao on Friday evening.

It was an attacking first half between the two sides but it remained goalless at the break.

At the start of the second session, FC Goa defender Carlos Pena seemed to handle the ball in the box but no penalty was given.

At the other end, FC Goa went ahead in the 59th minute when star striker Ferran Corominas scored off a Jackichand Singh cross. About 10 minutes the Gaurs doubled the lead when Edu Bedia scored off Hugo Boumous and only two minutes later Boumous himself made it 3-0.

Ferran Corominas made it 4-0 in the 84th minute with his 28th ISL goal joining Iain Hume as the ISL’s all-time highest goalscorer.

NorthEast United FC reduced the deficit with Bartholomew Ogbeche scoring his ninth goal of the campaign, but FC Goa were again four goals ahead when substitute Miguel Fernandez scored in added time.

Both the teams are now off for the mid-season break for the 2019 AFC Asian Cup and would return to action in 2019.
