FC Pune City sign Pradhyum Reddy as ISL Assistant Coach & the Head of Football – Youth!

The Rajesh Wadhawan Group and Hrithik Roshan co-owned Indian Super League franchise FC Pune City today announced the signing of Pradhyum Reddy as the Assistant Coach for the first team and the Head of Football – Youth. FC Pune City is the only ISL team to have a full-fledged residential academy set-up and boast of having three junior teams (U-14; U-16; U-18) and a Women’s team.

Speaking at the introduction of Pradhyum, FC Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel said, “We are committed towards youth development and creating a seamless pyramid of progression. Our teams are playing in four out of the five national leagues that are organized by the AIFF, making us the only football club to do so. In the coming years, we plan to commit more in our youth set. We have sought an approval from AIFF to create a reserve team that will play in Second Division next year. To realize our vision of having a robust development platform, we are strengthening our technical capabilities and to my mind there is no one better than Pradhyum.”

Pradhyum is a Scottish born AFC & USSF ‘A’ licensed Coach. After working in UK and US for a decade, Pradhyum returned to India in 2009. He joined Shillong Lajong FC in the 2010 season and in his debut season got promoted to the I-League by winning the Second Division. Besides working with the main team, he also was the Technical Director of Shillong Lajong’s Youth Development Program before moving to DSK Shivajians in 2012. After a brief 6-month stint with the Pune-based club, the 40-year-old joined Bengaluru FC as an assistant coach in 2013 and went on to have three successful seasons with them.

Gaurav Modwel further added, “We are glad that Pradhyum has joined FC Pune City in capacity of an Assistant Coach for ISL and Head of Football. Pradhyum’s rich experience in football across India and abroad and his ability to unearth raw talent will help in achieving our goals.”

On his new appointment at FC Pune City, Pradhyum Reddy said, “Being a part of FC Pune City setup is a new challenge, which excites me. It’s a very professional set up and the training facility is one of the best in the country. The club shares the same vision on the direction in which Indian football should move ahead, as demonstrated by their commitment to their Academy, grassroots and all aspects of football development. I look forward to being a part of ISL as well.”
