Earlier in the day, the latest quarterly FIFA Women’s World Ranking were released by the world football governing body and in the first rankings of 2018, India dropped two spots to be in 59th position jointly with Peru and Israel behind Iran and ahead of Slovenia.
India have 1409 points, the same as last month and they stay in 13rd position in the Asian (AFC) Women’s rankings.
In South Asia, India remain in top spot ahead of Nepal (91st), Bangladesh (100th), Sri Lanka (101th), the Maldives (103rd), Afghanistan (106th) and Bhutan (114th) with Pakistan currently unranked.
There were changes in the top 5. The United States (2,115 pts) retain top spot ahead of England (2,042 pts) and Germany (2,033 pts) who switched positions, while Canada (2,029 pts) and France (2,025 pts) gained a spot each to complete the top five.
