FIFA World Rankings: India finish 2016 as 135th, Argentina remain top!

FIFA - Coca Cola Mens World RankingEarlier in the day, the latest FIFA ‘Coca Cola’ Men’s World Ranking were released by the world football governing body and in the final rankings of 2016, India gained two spots to be in joint 135th position with Sudan behind Vietnam and ahead of El Salvador.

India have 217 points, the same as last month and they also stay in 22nd position in the Asian (AFC) rankings.

At the moment India has no matches lined-up for the next few months, so the 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in March 2017 are likely to be India’s next international matches.

In South Asia, India remain in top spot ahead of Afghanistan (146th), Maldives (154th), Bhutan (177th), Nepal (181st), Bangladesh (185th), Sri Lanka (195th) and Pakistan (197th).

There were no changes in the top 5. Argentina stay in top position with 1,634 points, ahead of Brazil (1,544 pts), FIFA World Cup winners Germany (1,433 pts), Copa America winners Chile (1,404 pts) and Belgium (1,368 pts), who complete the top five.
