Four Teams bid for an expansion franchise in 2017/18 I-League!

The All India Football Federation as has become norm over the last four years had invited bids from interested parties for an expansion franchise in the 2017/18 I-League with four teams showing serious intent to be a part of India’s top tier league.

Earlier in the bid process the AIFF had asked for clubs from the following cities of Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ranchi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bhopal, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Malappuram and Trivandrum to submit their bids.

Amongst the four teams are last season Second Division League side Ozone FC Bengaluru and Gokulam FC from Malappuram while two unnamed bids have been received from Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Interesting no bid was received by the AIFF from Kerala Evergreen FC of Trivandrum which had recently announced their intentions of bidding for an I-League team.

The submitted bids will be opened on August 18 with at least Bengaluru FC, who switched over to the Indian Super League, set to replaced while the situation surrounding the future of DSK Shivajians FC is still unclear.
