France’s Ousmane Dembele leaves Borussia Dortmund to sign for FC Barcelona!

After weeks of negotiations, German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and Spanish LaLiga giants FC Barcelona today announced an agreement between the two clubs for the transfer of Ousmane Dembélé.

A fee of 105 million Euros plus a payment of variable add on fees totalling a maximum of 40% of the fixed transfer fee has been agreed. The player will sign a five year contract with the Catalan giants and his buy out-clause is set at 400 million Euros.

Dembele comes to FC Barcelona as a replacement of Brazilian international Neymar, who this summer decided to leave Catalunya and join French Ligue 1 giants FC Paris Saint-Germain. Dembele will arrive in Barcelona on Sunday, August 27 and he will undergo a medical on Monday morning.

Born in Vernon, France on May 15, 1997, Ousmane Dembele is one of the most talented young footballers at the moment in the world. The French winger stands out for his pace, ability to beat men and versatility. He comes to FC Barcelona after having demonstrated his quality with Stade Rennes and then Borussia Dortmund. He can play on either wing in attack and is known for his great dribbling as shown last season in Germany as he made 103 successful dribbles, more than anyone else in the Bundesliga.

At 20 years of age Dembele has played a total of seven games with the French Equipe Tricolore alongside new FC Barcelona team-mates Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne. Last season Dembélé scored 10 goals in 49 matches aside from being third on list of players with most assists in Europe with 20 in all competitions.

According to Borussia Dortmund, the formal execution of the transfer is still explicitly dependent on the player’s successful passing of a medical examination at FC Barcelona, the arrangement of a termination agreement between Borussia Dortmund and the player, and the arrangement of a new work contract between the player and FC Barcelona, as well as the lawful execution of the transfer in accordance with the stipulations set out in the FIFA Transfer Matching System prior to the end of the current transfer period on August 31, 2017.
