Germany’s B team top group & qualify for 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup semifinals!

2014 FIFA World Cup winners Germany unlike the seven other participating countries is resting all of their superstars and key players in the ongoing 2017 FIFA Confederation Cup, but the newly put together Germany B team by coach Joachim Löw despite having their problems in group stage matches have topped their group and qualified for the tournament semifinals.

An opening 3-2 win over Australia in which Germany impressed in the first session was followed by a real challenge by Chile which in the end ended in a one-all draw after Germany faced numerous problems early on and then a 3-1 win over Cameroon in which again the first session wasn’t the best.

Germany coach Joachim Löw has been rotating his squad as well to see as many players as possible in the tournament, which is useful experience for all the players and staff going into next years 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

With this rotation, Germany has had different stars and heros in the matches. The top performers were Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich in the opening encounter, then it was Lars Stindl and Emre Can, followed in the final game in goalscorers Kerem Demirbay and Timo Werner.

And there is the record of head coach Joachim Löw. The win over Cameroon was the 100th win for Löw as Germany coach in his 150th official match in charge of Die Mannschaft.
