Girona FC lift LaLiga World trophy in Kochi after 5-0 win over Kerala Blasters!

Indian Super League franchise Kerala Blasters FC suffered another heavy defeat, a 0-5 to LaLiga side Girona FC in the final match of the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament, India’s first pre-season tournament, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Saturday, July 28 evening.

Girona FC were in control of the match from the start but the Kerala Blasters defence and goalkeeper Naveen Kumar stood tall for most of the first half, but then they conceded a late 41st minute goal off Eric Montes Arce.

At the break Girona FC were leading only 1-0 against the Kerala Blasters, who had great home crowd support but the goal seemed to demoralise the Blasters then Girona scored two quick goals through Pedro Porro (52′) and captain Alex Granell (56′).

Thereafter things slowed down as both Kerala Blasters and Girona FC made multiple substitutions but Girona made it for through Aday Benitez (72′) and they earned a late penalty in added time, which Aleix Garcia scored to make it 5-0.

Earlier the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament had started with Australian A-League side beating hosts Kerala Blasters 6-0 on Tuesday, July 24 and then on Friday, July 27 LaLiga side Girona FC trashed Melbourne City FC 6-0 before their 5-0 win over Kerala Blasters tonight.
