Performance experts from leading rights holders in China, Spain, Germany and Holland will be sharing their expertise on elite performance and grassroots player development at Soccerex China on May 23-24 in Hainan. The event will see Shandong Luneng Taishan FC, AFC Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and LaLiga all sharing their insights along with renowned hydration and nutrition expert, John Kelleher, CEO, Totum Sport.

In addition to this look at the factor behind peak athlete performance, Soccerex China, held in partnership with the Asian Football Confederation, the Chinese Football Association and the Chinese Super League will also host a discussion on best practice in grassroots and coach education. This subject which is central to China’s football development plan will be address by Corné Groenendijk, Manager of AFC Ajax’s famous Coaching Academy, Carlos Casal, LaLiga’s Senior Specialist in Sport Projects Development and Marius Lorenz, Sporting Co-Ordinator China, Borussia Dortmund.
At Ajax, Corné is is responsible for the daily operations, the development of players and the management of the Academy. He has been involved in football for his entire life, having coached Youth teams in Dutch Amateur and Professional clubs. Prior to Ajax, he worked with the KNVB (Dutch Association) where he was the youth national team assistant coach for the Woman U17 and U19, Men U15, U17 and U19. Alongside those roles he was also an Instructor in football courses for UEFA C and B license and was the Grassroots Manager until 2011.
Carlos Casal has been with LaLiga since October 2015, taking on his current role as Senior Specialist in Sports Projects Development in December 2017. Casal specialised in Tactical Analysis and Football Methodology throughout his Bachelor and Master’s degree in Sports Science, which has led to him being a Master’s degree Professor and a published researcher in high impact journals. Carlos is a licensed UEFA PRO Coach which has taken him across Spain and includes a 2-year spell in China.
Marius is a German UEFA B license qualified coach with a Master’s in Sport & Biology. Since joining Borussia Dortmund, he has conducted football camps in Asia, South America and Europe for the leading Bundesliga club. Now stationed in Shanghai, He took on the role as Sporting Co-ordinator China at the start of the year and is responsible for a range of activities including training and further education at the German school Shanghai Hongqiao.
Soccerex China, taking place at the Mission Hills Haikou resort, will unite over 1,500 senior industry representatives in Hainan with a focus on the fulfilment of China’s football development plan and the growth of China’s sports economy. In addition to performance content, the programme will also address subjects such as investment, commercial rights, venue management, digital marketing and esports.
