The Juniors of Salgaocar FC managed to squeeze past Penha de France SC by beating them 1-0 in the GFA First Division league played at the Ambelim ground.
Salgaocar Juniors posed a constant threat to the Penha de France box with good through and long range balls to their strikers who were poor with their finishing. Both teams tried to get the breakthrough but the defence of both stood rock solid as the first half ended goalless.
The second half was all action and reaction with tackles coming in from both ends. Salgaocars were awarded a free kick, Karan took responsibility who floated his cross into the rival box and found Sanson Pereira who rose highest to the ball who with his blistering header beat the keeper who remained grounded. Penha de France tired hard to equalise but all efforts went in vein as the match ended 1-0 in favour of the Salgaocar Juniors.
