Goa Football Development Council opens 40th Grassroots centre at Nagoa!

GFDC - NagoaThe Goa Football Development Council opened its 40th grassroot football development centre in association with Pax of Nagoa Sports Club at the Panchayat ground in Nagoa, Verna.

Inaugurating the centre, Goa Sports and Youth affairs minister Ramesh Tawadkar, in the august presence of MLA for Nuvem constituency Francisco Xavier Pacheco, Parish priest of Nagoa Fr Livio D’ Mello, Chairman GFDC Dr. Rufino Monteiro and GFDC member Agnelo Fonseca, expressed happiness in seeing the great number of enthusiastic trainees and thanked GFDC and Pax of Nagoa SC for joining hands in this grassroots initiative. He said it is time to take football as an industry to benefit the youth & footballers of the state.

Member Secretary of GFDC and President of Pax of Nagoa, Aleixo Da Costa expressed joy at his dream being fulfilled of the local community children utilizing the beautiful ground in the village. He enumerated the various benefits the trainees would get in life if they excelled & urged the trainees to take full advantage of the training at the centre.

Local MLA , Mickky Pacheco addressing the large gathering said that the AIFF and the local state association along with the government should devise measures to reward the shining footballers for their future after their football playing career.

GFDC Chairman Dr. Rufino Monteiro urged the trainees to come regularly for the training and work hard with great dedication and a sense of purpose so that they may shine at national and international level like GFDC trainee from Aldona, Narendra Naik who has been selected for the Reliance Foundation Young Champs Academy in Mumbai.

Rev. Fr. Livio D’Mello on the occasion of founder’s day of Pax of Nagoa SC thanked the late Fr Bruno Antonio who founded the Pax of Nagoa SC.

Secretary of Pax of Nagoa SC Gil Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
