In a match of former I-league sides, Sporting Clube de Goa beat Dempo SC by a lone goal in a Goa Professional League match at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa on Thursday night.
It was a great game of football amongst these Goan giants reminding the fans present of the times when former multiple I-League champions Dempo SC and Sporting Clube de Goa were a force to reckon with at the national scene.
The winner for Sporting Goa came in the 63rd minute when Victorino Fernandes set-up African striker Abiola Afuwape, who slotted home the lone goal of the match.
With today’s win, Sporting Clube de Goa now have 10 points and move into the Goa Pro League top spot ahead of leaders Dempo SC, who remain on nine points and drop into second position.
