Sinquerim Sports Club and Pilerne Sports Club settled for a 2-2 draw in the Goa Second Division League match played at Duler Stadium in Mapusa on Wednesday.
Both the teams begin the first half with a slow approach as they tried to maintain possession on the field. While Pilerne SC played short passes, Sinquerim used their width for the attacks. Ashish Gawas gave Sinquerim the lead in the 24th minute and the side defended resolutely to maintain the slender 1-0 lead at the break.
But more was expected from the game, as Pilerne SC pressed Sinquerim and didn’t allow them to play a free-flow game. Their hard work and efforts to find the equalising goal finally paid off when Anson D’Souza restored parity at the hour mark.
Hardly had the joys settled down, Alister Fernandes further brought more celebration in the Pilerne dugout as he gave them the lead in the very next minute.
However, Pilerne’s hopes for three points were denied by Salil Parwar as he made it all square in the 73rd minute. Sinquerim’s Dattaraj Tari was cautioned for rough play.
