A story made for storytelling: adidas today unveiled the away kit that will see “Die Mannschaft” head to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The green jersey takes up the design of the legendary jersey, in which Germany moved into the final at the 1990 FIFA World Cup after a dramatic penalty shootout win against England, to get a little later their third world title.
“Our home colours will always be white and black, but I think if we go out like that, we do not have to hide,” Julian Draxler says of the new jersey. The jagged pattern, which is reminiscent of the design of 1990 and immortalized in the form of a chest ring on the home shirt, has been multiplied: It runs in different weights across the entire front, the sleeves and in the collar. Thus, the design pays off on the overarching strategy of soccer products at adidas: “from authenticity to progression”. White on green is also incorporated in the neck of the word “Die Mannschaft”. The outfit of the German national team is completed by white pants and green socks. The goalkeepers are playing in blue outfits.
On the field, the away jersey celebrates its international debut against Spain on March 23, 2018 at the esprit Arena in Dusseldorf.
