Häfele PIFA Webinar 1-4: A Club’s perspective on Indian Women’s Football!

Häfele presented the webinar was powered by PIFA Foundation for the Benefit of Sports and moderated by Anjali Shah – AIFF ExCo and AIFF Womens Committee member.

The panelists were associated with women’s team: Seeni – Sethu FC, Shekar Rajan and Coach Kalidas – Kickstart FC, Sonika – Alakpura FC and Coach Amruta – Sethu FC and we had Arunava Chaudhuri, a football consultant and an expert on Indian and German Football.

We heard touching stories from Sonika how communities collectively are supporting the growth of women’s football in Alakhpura, Haryana resulting in several players making the national team.

Shekar spoke about kickstarting the football eco system in Karnataka which is reaching the South of India.

Seeni spoke about the support for girls education and football passion in Tamil Nadu.

Amruta was grateful to team owners investing in Womens football, it was much needed.

Arunava gave a brief on community ownership and its benefits of women’s clubs in Germany and spoke about the German womens league system. Germany have won 2 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

We had KD from Soccer Delhi who spoke about how 22 years ago Bill Adams had initiated the Sunday league, a grassroot program in Delhi.

Positive stories like that of Akakhpura need to be published and there are many such stories across India that will awaken the country on how Women playing football is benefiting the nation.
