The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Executive Committee has ratified the AFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee’s recommendations to confirm Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates as the hosts for the upcoming AFC Women’s Futsal Championship and AFC Futsal Club Championship respectively.
The AFC was one of the first Confederations to introduce an elite futsal competition in the women’s game and the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship in Kuwait will see Iran chase their third consecutive title after the reigning queens of Asian futsal captured the 2018 crown in Thailand as well as the inaugural 2015 edition in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Asia’s top 16 clubs will set their sights on Continental glory in the AFC Futsal Club Championship in the UAE where Japan’s Nagoya Oceans are expected to defend their crown after clinching a record-extending fourth title in Thailand last year.
The final line-up of teams, dates and match schedules for both competitions will be announced in the coming months.
Earlier this month, the AFC along with FIFA had agreed to postpone the AFC Futsal Championship Turkmenistan 2020, which serves as the qualifiers for the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2020, from February 26 – March 8, 2020, to the new dates of August 5 – 16, 2020.
