Hyderabad FC sign India winger Halicharan Narzary!

Indian Super League side Hyderabad FC have signed India international winger Halicharan Narzary from rivals Kerala Blasters on a two year contract.

26 year old Kokrajhar-born Halicharan Narzary started his career locally before he caught the eye on the national stage with the Assam Under-16 team and was called-up to the India U-16s, then he went on to play for the India U-19s.

In the 2010/11 season, he signed for Indian (Pailan) Arrows and stayed with them for three seasons. After his time with them he signed as a free player for IMG-Reliance in 2013 ahead of the new Indian Super League, but the league’s kickoff was delayed and he signed on loan for Dempo SC. He stuck with the former I-League champions for three seasons, while playing in the ISL on loan for FC Goa (2014) and NorthEast United FC (2015). He signed for NorthEast United FC in 2016 and spend two ISL’s with them while spending time on loan with DSK Shivajians FC.

In the last couple of seasons, Halicharan Narzary was with the Kerala Blasters where he played 38 matches scoring three goals.

After playing for the India juniors, Narzary has represented the India Under-23s and the India senior national team, whom he has represented 26 times and has a goal to his name.

Halicharan Narzary said, “I am very happy to join Hyderabad FC. It’s a new team and personally an exciting challenge for me. I am eager to regroup with my new teammates soon, hopefully once the situation is better, and get down to playing football. I have known Albert Roca for some time now since his first stint in India and working with his philosophy is something that motivates me. I have loved how his teams used to play and I think these are exciting times for the club.”

New Hyderabad FC head coach Albert Roca said, “Narzary is an exciting player and has been a valuable asset for both club and country over the last few years. His experience and work rate coupled with his skill set, and the ability to play on either flank and in attack will be important for us as a team this season. We’re very happy to have him and hope he will have a significant impact for us in the ISL.”

Meanwhile Halicharan Narzary added, “I have played with quite a few of the players from the team before as well. We have a few players from the national team among us like Adil, Nikhil and Subrata, which adds to the value of our squad. The experience and the quality that they bring in together will be crucial for us this season and I hope we can leave a mark.”
